Hello, and Welcome to the Triple B Angus website!! Thanks for visiting! Triple B Angus, located in North Central Kansas near Greenleaf, was started in 1975 by Ernest, Armin and Roger Blanken. The herd was started with select females from several herds in Kansas and Nebraska. Many of the foundation cows that survived the culling process were Wye bred females. They were the ones that had calves every year with few problems, and they formed the base of our Angus herd. Over the years, our cattle were strictly culled for maternal efficiency, structural soundness and eye appeal. Our cattle were developed to have enough frame so that they would not quit growing too early, but not so much frame that the females would become impractical. In the last few years, we have emphasized getting a handle on genetic defects. We have DNA tested all past sires that we could, and have eliminated AM, NH, and D2 as a concern in our herd. Only CA was brought into our herd by 1 sire. Since he was such a successful bull, we have many potential carriers. So we are DNA testing all breeding stock for CA(fawn calf) before they are sold, so you can be assured the bulls you buy are clean. All 2012 sale bulls tested free of CA. |
